What I'm Wearing: Comfortable Traveling

I've been awake for about 24 hours straight now, but I'm glad to be all unpacked and settled. People never know what to wear while traveling. Depending on where you're off to, you can be stuck on a plane for quite some time so comfort is definitely key. My flight this morning was about 7 hours, long but bearable.

I wore a pink washed out tee with grey jeans paired with a pair of Lela Rose for Payless flats. If you want to wear jeans on a flight make sure they're a pair that have a good amount of spandex in them so they're still comfortable. I packed a cute trimmed cardigan in my carry-on and I was glad I did...it was freezing on the plane!

The view this morning from from my window seat on the plane. Isn't it stunning?

Traveling Essentials: Passport Holder

I'm going abroad at the end of this week. Traveling to Portugal to be exact, and for spring semester I will be studying in Denmark. Because of all this impending travel, I'll be making a series of posts dedicated to traveling needs. As I'm going through my checklist, I realized I should really get a passport holder. I don't want my ticket in one folder and my passport in a random pocket. While I was shopping in the Marc by Marc Jacobs store on Bleecker St. yesterday, I saw a python envelope clutch. When I opened it, I realized it could double as my much-needed passport holder. With all of its compartments, it's perfect especially at only $19.

Internships and College: Teen Vogue Handbook

Some of us have known fashion was their livelihood since the could play dress up in their mothers' closets. Others, such as myself slowly discovered the industry and become enthralled by it daily. Those of us with the slow start may soon have some much needed help on how to break into this competative industry. Teen Vogue is set to release its "Insider's Guide to Careers in Fashion" in October. The book will include career advice, tips, and interviews with big industry names such as Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfield, and Patrick Demarchelier.

You can watch what Amy Astley (Teen Vogue's Editor-in-Chief) has to say about the handbook here:

"Do your homework, go online, visit every museum, and intern. You just need to have a love for what you're doing. It's not about thinking that it's the cool thing; it's about really believing in it."
-Anna Wintour

What do you think about the Teen Vogue Handbook? Are you going to purchase it?

Reviews and News: Nordstrom Rack Coming to New York City

While I sincerely miss Virgin Megastore in Union Square, the fact that a Nordstrom Rack will be soon replacing it, definitely soothes the pain. I've scored some great deals at other Nordstrom Racks before including BCBG pants for $6.00. So, the fact that one is opening in my backyard (I love Union...close and convenient) is thrilling. I just hope New Yorkers learn to take a step back when doing their shopping in the Rack and not be too aggressive. Sharing is caring, afterall.

Reviews and News: Forever 21 Twist

Forever 21 recently announced they were in the works of launching a home and beauty line, and today unveiled yet another collection named "Twist." The line will feature limited edition pieces all following a distinct theme. The first theme is perhaps a bit Britney inspired. It's called "Cirque 21" and is of course, circus-themed. Here are some looks they unveiled today.

While I love Forever 21's affordable fashion, I must admit I'm starting to get a tad confused by all these "[Insert Name Here] 21" lines...

What do you think of these looks from Forever 21's new line?

Internships and College: Design Your Dorm

Design Your Dorm is a relatively new website that brings a whole new dimension to dorm decorating. I wish this website was up and running when I was an incoming college freshman spending my days on The Container Store website thinking of decorating ideas. The website allows you to create a 3-D model of your dorm. For those of you attending big schools, they have exact dorm replicas which is great. The website also allows to choose from a generic room type. The service provides a great way for you and I to see what will fit in our tiny dorms and what won't. While the idea is great, I think it still needs a lot of work. As you can see above, I began putting up posters (I have the colorful Martini Glass Poster in my dining room!) but was unable to place any comforter or move around some of the furniture. It needs to be more flexible. I wish I could remove the wardrobes (we have built-in closets) and move the window. I think the idea is genius, and I recommend checking it out, but some of the details need to be worked out.

Be sure to check out their Moving Day Checklist!

What do you think of Design Your Dorm? Does it make planning for Move-In Day easier?
