The September Issue, a documentary by R.J. Cutler, surrounds fashion legend and Vogue editor, Anna Wintour. The film which caused buzz at this year's Sundance Film Festival by winning the Grand Jury Prize for Excellence in Cinematography premieres in U.S. theaters late this summer. The documentary follows Wintour and the process of putting together the September 2007 issue of Vogue, which reportedly weighed about 5lbs!

Reviews and News: Anna Sui for Target

Anna Sui reported her collaboration with Target months ago. Her Gossip Girl inspired collection was leaked online by New York Mag this past weekend. It's easy to associate each look with the characters, Blair, Serena, Jenny, and Vanessa. The Blair-inspired looks have a romantic feel, filled with bows and other girly details. I feel as though the pieces associated with Serena are a bit farfetched. You can see the inspiration but I think it's a little weak. I love Serena's style on the show so I guess I was a bit disappointed. Vanessa's pieces are very obvious. They all look bohemian and very appropriate for fall, especially considering the colors. The looks inspired by Jenny are all different from each other. I feel like that's because we've seen Jenny's style evolve drastically in the past two seasons. However, I can definitely see Jenny wearing the dress above.

See other pieces from the collection here: The Cut

The collection will be available starting September 13 in 250 stores and online.

What do you think about Anna Sui's collection? Will you be purchasing any of these pieces?

Reviews and News: MBMJ Print Locket Pocket Big Tote

While browsing Shopbop's sales, I came across this Marc by Marc Jacobs tote. I love big bags. I feel like they're so much more functional because everything fits. What's especially great about this tote is that it becomes compact similar to the Longchamp Le Pliage bags. I always bring them (the Longchamp bags) when I travel because they don't take up any room in my suitcase. I like this pattern; it's great for the summer. At first, I didn't know how versatile it would be or how to match in with my wardrobe, but after a second thought I realized it'd be extremely easy because of how many colors are present in its striped pattern. I came to the conclusion that my only reservation about the bag is its fabric. Canvas can often be really hard to clean, but nothing a little elbow grease can't remove, assuming the bag is gently loved.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs Print Locket Pocket Big Tote is available at Shopbop on sale for $117.60

Verdict? What do you think about this MBMJ Tote?

Sales and Deals: Free Pinkberry!

While this may not be fashion related, I needed to share. This Friday, June 26 from 5-9PM Pinkberry is giving out a free small yogurt in one of their new flavors: coconut, passionfruit, or tropical swirl. I'll be sure to grab one after work. Personally, passionfruit what they describe as tangy + tropical will be my flavor of choice. What a great start to the weekend. Enjoy!

Trendy Television: The Hills

While I may not be first in line to purchase Lauren Conrad's new book, L.A. Candy, I must admit I love her polished look. Lauren donned this outfit at her New York City book signing. At first glance, I would probably look over this shirt. Come to think about it, I probably have considering it's available at Urban Outfitters. It looks shapeless, and I would assume it to be unflattering. Tucked in, the shirt is pulled closer to the body creating a slimming effect. It's ready for everyday use as well as in the office with a great pencil skirt or slacks. The shorts, while not as office friendly, are great for a weekend night out with friends especially now that it's summer. Get Lauren's look below.

Sick of missing out on sample sales? This Rebecca Minkoff sample sale is available to everyone because it's online. If you haven't heard of Rebecca Minkoff, her bags are classic and great quality. The leather is buttery soft. Her most popular bag (I would say) is the Morning After Bag on sale for $350 from $595, but as a bag fan of hobo bags, I love the Nikki. Its also available for the same price in an assorment of colors.

The sale goes on until this Sunday, June 21 so grab one while you can.

Sales and Deals: Jimmy Choo Teams Up With H&M

Forget Target and Payless, Jimmy Choo has confirmed a collaboration with H&M. The collection will include bags and of course, shoes. I remember the first time I heard of Jimmy Choo shoes, where else but on Sex and the City. Of all the designers to cash in from the dwindling recession by partnering with large retailers, Jimmy Choo is definitely the collection I'm the most excited to see (and own)! Other designers including Stella McCartney and Roberto Cavalli have previously partnered with H&M. The image above includes two designs from the line. Personally, I love the black heels.

Tamara Mellon, President and Founder of Jimmy Choo describes the line as "a sophisticated, fashion forward, accessible and glamorous collection - the perfect party pieces to buy now and then wear out that night!" The line will be sold in about 200 stores worldwide. Jimmy Choo prices range from about $700 to sometimes over $1,000. H&M has some reasonably priced products with collaborative pieces generally being a bit more expensive. Jennifer Uglialoro, an H&M spokeswoman has stated that "most of the footwear will range from $99 to $129 for boots, though there are over-the knee boots priced at $299. Shoppers can also find ballet flats for $59.95. Handbags will be priced from $59.95 to $299."

The collection will be available in stores on November 14, 2009.

Are you excited for Jimmy Choo's line for H&M?

Trendy Television: Gossip Girls

Gossip Girl is on a break, but that doesn't mean we can't admire their actresses' style from afar. Last night were the CFDA Fashion Awards, and both Blake Lively (Serena) and Michelle Trachtenberg (Georgina) were present. Each actress wore completely different ensembles, risky and unique in their own way. If you want to emulate these looks but don't have the means, look below for some alternate yet similar choices.

I really like the hot pink with the nude peep toe pumps, but I can't decide if the whole look together on Blake Lively is too reminiscent of Barbie. I love her, and normally she looks flawless. Maybe it's just the tan that's throwing me off, because this Michael Kors dress fits her perfectly.

Strapless Sheath Dress in Hot Pink Available at Forever 21 for $14.50

Michelle Trachtenberg opted for a more risque outfit in her Behnaz Sarafpour dress. Her sleek pulled back hair completes her look. At first glace, I didn't like it. The ruffles on the bustier weren't flattering, but as I looked at other images, I decided she looks great for the event. Afterall, it's an awards show for fashion. She dared to be a little different, and I applaud her for that.

Reviews and News: Payless on the Runway

When I first saw alice + olivia shoes in a window while walking past a Payless, I nearly did a double take. Someone else finally caught onto to the "Designer for Less" concept. In this recession, shoppers really can't afford to spend the extra $100. At first, I wasn't too impressed with the designs or the quality. Both seemed lacking. A couple of weeks ago when looking for some last minute sandals, I browsed through a Payless to find Lela Rose flats on sale for $10.00. I'm pleasantly surprised to report that I haven't had any major problems with them yet. As with nearly all my shoes, of course they caused a bit of pain the first couple of times.

This inspired me to take a look at their designer collection for Fall '09. I've been long awaiting to see what Christian Siriano would design for his Payless line. It was...mediocre. None of his designs particularly excite me. The Payless on the Runway collection as a whole, however, did. Full of earthy tones, boots, and heels, this collection impressed me far more than their Spring '09. My only reservation? The quality. A lot of these shoes look like faux suede or faux leather which would cause them to ruin quickly. That seems to be the biggest problem with these designer-major retailer parternerships. Can't they find a happy medium? Decent price and decent quality? Let's hope so.....

Mission Accomplished....

On Tuesday, I discussed a scavenger hunt Rachel Nasvik has going on based in the city. I was so close to getting one, yet the chance seemed to slip away. I decided that finding one of these bags would be one of my goals this summer. Yesterday, while working on a blog post (it's coming soon) I recieved a tweet that read "Five Alices are on Canal at Broadway. Look for the old man with a cast on his arm. http://yfrog.com/5949914523j" I literally bolted out my door. I'm sure everyone doing their Saturday shopping in SoHo thought I was insane as I ran to Canal Street. I wandered around looking for this old man and even proceeded to ask another vendor if he knew another old vendor who had broken his arm. I was seriously committed to finding a bag! Finally, out of the corner of my eye I see an old man standing near his cart of bags. I quickly grabbed one at the same time as two other women snatched the last two. I've been so excited, I've carried it around everywhere (just like a little kid) the past two days!

What I'm Wearing: Rain Rain..Go Away

It's been raining nonstop this week, but that's no reason to stay dark and gloomy. I thought I'd be attending an event tonight Uptown, but it was cancelled due to the rain. That meant that I could finally spend some time with friends. So, I ran home from work and changed to do some wandering in the city rain. I stuck to neutrals with just a a bright pop of color with my shirt. It is summer after all!

Internships and College: Dorm Decorating 101

[Image Courtesy of The Container Store]

The best part of about moving into your own place, whether it be your dorm or a new apartment, is being able to express yourself in a whole new way. Living at home sometimes makes it hard to fully decorate according to your tastes and style. I know my room is cluttered with things from my childhood. So, a chance to start fresh and explore decorating ideas can definitely be exciting!

Choose a Color Scheme or Theme
By choosing a color scheme, I don't mean to make everything in your room blue. Many times, especially dorms have white walls that you aren't allowed to paint. Use this as an opportunity to play with different bright colors in your bedspread, posters, and even your desk. The room in the image above isn't too matchy, but there certainly is an underlying fresh yellow young theme.

Be Conscious of Space
Conserve! Put up shelves and use boxes. You don't have to buy boring clear plastic storage boxes in every single size for everything. I do recommend purchasing big sturdy boxes for under your bed, but for around your room use canvas boxes or baskets in different patterns, prints, and colors.

Decorate Walls
Make use of all the blank space. Put up mirrors, posters, or pictures. Want to be a little different? Invest in a mural or some wall art/stickers. I've even seen people hang up huge tapestries on their walls or from their ceilings. This is your time to be creative, so try something new.

Invest in Extra Lighting
This past year, my bedroom had one lamp (mind you, my school has great dorms, so be prepared). There are great ways to light up a room. Check out garage sales for some great vintage lamps and light stands. A lot of students I know like to use Christmas lights all around the edges of their room as a fun way to brighten up their space.

Organize
Everything. I'm not the most organized person (on the weekends it can get a little out of hand), but for the most part I like keeping things pretty structured. If you need to make room in your closet, purchase a shoe rack or closet organizer to place inside.

Check back throughout the summer for some more ideas, links, and sales!

Sales and Deals: Rachel Nasvik Bags

Rachel Nasvik designs great handbags, but I haven't been able to get my hands on one (yet!). As a marketing major, I found what the designer is currently doing absolutely thrilling. She has 96 limited edition hand-printed bags that are currently being placed all around the city (different amount daily). She tweets about the bag's location and if you find it, it's yours! Today, I ran out of work to go to a hair salon where a bag was supposedly placed. I'm running in heels asking 411 to connect me to Cutler (the salon). I finally get through only to discover someone took the bag. So close...yet so far. The woman who I talked with was awfully sweet and thought it was funny that I actually called in. So, I'm on a mission to get one of these bags!

Are you a fan of Rachel Nasvik? Are you in on this hunt?

Summer Trend: Maxi Dresses

Long maxi dresses seem to be back this summer.  I see them everywhere in the city, but I can't seem to make up my mind about them.  My favorite part about summer is being able to stay cool in light dresses and skirts.  It appears that maxi dresses kind of counteract that idea in being so long.  Many appear to be made of a thick cotton material, so it's hard for me to imagine how actually light they are.  In my search for a possible dress, here are some of my finds:

Reviews and News: ShopStyle

ShopStyle is probably one of the most useful websites for any avid shopper, especially when you're looking for a particular item. For anyone who has never heard of ShopStyle, it is almost like a shopping search engine. You can search for a product by name or designer, or you can browse the categories. I love all of the options Shopstyle presents; you're capable of refining your search by brand, store, sale, price, and color. Best of all, they just recently released an iPhone/iPod Touch app. While I think the app still needs some work (they don't give you as many options), it's still worth a download, especially because it's free! So, no matter if you're looking for a new pair of ballet flats or want a grey and white striped one-shouldered top under $50.00, ShopStyle will make your search easy. Be sure to check it out?

Sales and Deals: INA

INA. It's like a sample sale....all year round.  How perfect does that sound?  If you're making a trip to NYC anytime soon, be sure to check it out.  It's a small consignment boutique. They sell items from designers such as Yves Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Oscar de la Renta.  INA offers high-end designer goods at a discounted price.  While the prices ares still pretty steep for me, it's definitely fun to look around and see such good deals.  I've known about INA for quite a while (there's a location really close to me), but I started hearing about it in the news when Sex and the City was coming to an end.  INA recieved the Sex and the City closet and fans got to purchase actual items the Carrie (Sarah Jessican Parker) wore on the show.  Although, all these items  are sold (obviously) out by now, be sure to take a look. They have four locations in New York.

Internships and College: What to Wear

Your style at work will depend on the company's dress code.  Yesterday was my first day at my internship, and I have to admit my clothes were definitly lacking any kind of personal style.  Since it was my first day, I thought it better to be overdressed in black slacks, a white and grey striped button down, and a black blazer. Business Professional. I did like my jewelry, but it still felt lacking.  I'll be sure to update my look from now on though.  If you need some suggestions to make your work outfit more fun, I'll be posting some ideas.

The Connie Striped Chiffon Top is a light pastel coral.  There's a subtle presence of a cream color which makes it perfect to wear with brown colors.  I like the tie detail.  It's different from your typical button down without being over the top.

Dark brown slacks is a nice neutral alternative to the typical black and grey. The Gianni Flare Trouser creates a flattering shape because it narrows down at the knees and then widens out, balancing the hips.

The Cherize Leather Tote is a nice taupe color and its shape is perfect for work, because it's large enough for any kind of notebook or folder you may need.

Iactually own the Rose Drop Earring Set.  It's a very simple set that is easy to work into outfits. My favorite is the rose studs, such a fun and easy way to work in the summer floral trend.

I love the Nine West Barbe heels.  They're the most comfortable heels I've ever owned, and they're available in plenty of colors.  If you're looking for a good pair of heels, definitely invest in these.

Do you always try to work in your own style and trends into your work outfits?

Trendy Television: The Hills

So, as some of you may know, this weekend I was away for a wedding. Due to my absence, I missed the season finale of The Hills which was Lauren's last episode.  I watched it today, and I do think it was a good episode. It wasn't really surprising. Everyone knew Lauren would make an appearance at the wedding, and that Kristin Cavallari attended.  I don't know if I'll tune in to watch The Hills' new season with Kristin, but if she's anything like she was in her Laguna days, she'll be sure to spice up the show and make it more interesting.  I'll be curious to see if Kristin will still have her laid back beach style or if her style has developed to be more LA chic.

What did you think of The Hills' season finale? Will you watch next season?
